I had my upper left ear done almost 2 years ago now. As with everyone else, I had a gun piercing. I had two in the same ear done at the same time (mistake). I was fine until that evening and then my ear and the entire left side of my face hurt. Dope that I am, I got it done on New Years Eve. Hint: Be smart.. get this done when you have a few days to roam around the house moaning. The piercing itself doesn't hurt, but the pain that follows after is worth staying at home and taking care of.
My ear just burned and burned and turnd completely red. Determined to keep the piercing I soaked my ear repeatedly in alcohol turning the studs constantly to avoid it (ewww) crusting up too much. It took about 4 days for the pain to subside and even then I had to remove one of the studs because the top hole was just too infected to even try keeping it. I also had to ensure my long hair was well pulled back because it kept getting caught around the back of the stud. Yep.. you said it.. Ouch! Hair isn't exactly the cleanest thing to have wrapping around an open cartilage wound.
2 years later, I still have the one and it's healed nicely. It looks very cool and I get lots of compliments!!.. I haven't forgotten the pain though. But I figure it's like anything.. it's not worth it if it's easy. I recommend it to anyone (getting the second one re-done soon) BUT if you infect easily have lots of rubbing alcohol and don't take chances... Get to your doctor and get anti-biotics to combat any infection. When it's all over you'll have that cool piercing to show off and you're still in one piece if you take care of it right away. And be safe.. get it done by a professional. It's your body baby.. take care of it!
