I'd been begging to have my ears pierced since I was a little kid and when
my aunt took me to get my first set of holes at the age of thirteen my mum
was horrified. She got a bigger shock later. Just before my 18th birthday I
added two more holes to each ear myself (don't try this at home kids!) The
day after my eighteenth birthday my friends took me to have my conch pierced
as a pressie. The piercer was fabulous and allowed my friends to come and
watch! She sprayed my ear, got the mirror so I could see what was going on
(I hate being pierced when I can't see what's going on) and pierced it.
Everything was fine with the exception of two things 1) I poured blood all
over the place it looked like a scene from a slasher movie in there, and 2)
because of the resulting blood the ball to my closure ring slipped and had
to be re-sterilised. The piercing was the best I've had done yet, it made my
friends go green when the blood poured, and it looks really pretty. It's a
great piercing to give as a birthday pressie if you're stuck on what to get
a friend!
