Let's face it, it's not that big of a deal to have your lobes pierced like everyone else, so I decided to try something new, like my eyebrow for instance. I had to admit, I was a little hesitant about getting my brow pierced. For starters, I was only going on 13 and I didn't know if I wanted a hole on my face for the rest of my life. Some of the people I told were really against me getting it done. Like my health teacher, for example, said I needed to write him a two page report on "the safety of body piercings". If we weren't so close, I wouldn't have done it. A few people told me stories about others they knew that had brow piercings gone bad. I was a good girl so I did the report and I told everyone how rare it is for something to go wrong if I take proper care of the puncture.
So I went to this place on Friday evening called "Just 4 U Tattoo and Piercings" My sister went to get her bellybutton done there and she said it was cheap and they did a good job so, naturally, I chose this over the two other places in town. I forgot my ID so I had to go home and get it and then come back. I was finally ready and I sat down in this little, uncomfortable, black chair that "Dave" told me to. He made me sign a couple of papers and then we got down to business. As I was looking around the room, my piercer was marking the spot where I was to get pierced. He took this little stick thingy, dipped it in black ink, and made two dots perpendicular to my eyes. He asked me if it was okay and I told him it was just where I wanted it; almost at the edge of my right brow. Next he put on a pair of gloves and opened up a new, packaged needle about he size of a toothpick. Then he took the clamp (which looks exactly like a pair of scissors with pads on the end instead of a point) and held my skin up with it. At this point I had to close my eyes. The clamping was terribly uncomfortable and I have read that it is the most unfavorable part of the whole piercing experience so I knew the worst had already come. Dave then told me to inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale and on the third exhale he stuck the needle through. I don't know how people say it doesn't hurt at all because it did sting, but it wasn't excruciating or anything. It only took him 15 minutes to do everything and then put in the barbell. It was like a 14 gauge or something. I like the look of bars better than rings and plus rings get caught easier on stuff. That wouldn't work considering basketball was coming up in a few weeks.
Now I've had it pierced for 15 days and it's doing well. For the first few days there was a drop or two of blood and a little, yellow bruise. I had trouble sleeping because I always lie my head right on my bar. I only have occasional crusties, blood, and soreness now. Also, I've gotten by playing basketball by simply putting a bandaid over it and not letting the referees know that I have a new piercing. Haha! They are such dorks! (If you're a basketball referee, sorry!) Hopefully I can put a retainer in before too long. I went swimming too without being supposed to. Eyebrow piercings are awesome and easy to take care of! I highly recommend them to anyone because of their style and simplicity. Everyone will love it. Even my teachers admitted that it turned out looking pretty good. (Note: They still hate me.)
