I got my navel pierced yesterday....very interesting story actually.
About 3 years ago, I wanted 2 get my belly button pierced, about the same time
I got a tatoo. Anyway I decided not 2, but told a friend about it. He told
one of my mom's friends one day when they went 2 visit him at work. And so
she bought me a gift certificate 2 get my belly button pierced. I got the
gift certificate in January of this year for my birthday. We now it is
July/August. So my mom and I went 2 get it done. It is actually a lingerie
place. very cool & very sanitary, which is something my mom was worried
about. I was kinda freaked out though. I had been told it wouldn't hurt as
much as my tatoo did, which didn't really hurt like a sharp pain but more of
an annoying pain (Try taking a needle and tapping it on your skin over and
over again and you will know what a tatoo feels like). Anyway, the guy who
did the piercing had quite a few piercing's himself. He told me that it would
hurt less than the tatoo...he said I would feel a pinch that would last about
3 seconds, and then he would put the ring in and I would be done.
He put iodine on my belly button 2 clean it, and then he marked where the
needle would go. He then took a pair of forceps with little holes in the
bottom and clasped the part of my navel that he would be piercing. He then
asked me if I wanted him 2 tell me when he was going 2 do it or if I wanted
him 2 suprise me. I told him 2 suprise me. So he sat there 4 a second, then
he said "I think I am gonna need 2 change forceps, these ones are 2 loose" I
said okay and just as I said okay he stuck the needle through. It definately
didn't hurt as bad as my tatoo. I didn't watch any of this, although I did
look down and saw the needle. He then put the ring through, closed it and I
was done.
He said if there were any problems 2 give him a call. And gave me a paper
with instructions, told me what kind of antibacterial soap he recommended and
that was that.
It's a little sore if I bend over, but other than that it's cool. I am glad I
did it.
Afterwards, my mom asked him if he had ever been into the arts & crafts store
she works at...he said yeah, about a year ago. Comes 2 find out my mom had
talked 2 him and told him then that her daughter (me) was interested in
getting her belly button pierced, so he told her a bunch of info then which
she told me about. Kinda Ironic that he ended up being the guy who pierced
it.
