Hi, I am a 19 year old female college student from
Frederick, Maryland. Back in October, (about 6 or 7
monthes ago), my friend was telling me about how she
had gotten her nipple pierced, and I thought it looked
really cool. I had always been fascinated by body
piercings, but I never had the nerve to go through
with it. She told me that it didn't really hurt that
bad, and so I went through with it a week later. I
went to the ATM machine to withdraw $80 for the cost
of the piercing and the jewelry. She and I went to
Gus's Tattoo and Time Bomb Body Piercing Studio in
downtown Frederick.
When I got there the guy I asked for my ID (I was 18),
and I filled out a bunch of paperwork. He made copies
of everything, and I picked out a small (about the
size of a nickel)(14 ga) ring with a silver ball. She
(my friend) came with me into the back room.
Everything was very clean and sterile. The piercer
asked if I minded the music, and I said no (they were
playing the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, one of my favs).
I sat back and removed my shirt and bra and set them
on a stool across the room. He cleaned of my left
nipple (I only had one done), and marked it with a pen
and asked me if it looked ok and even to me. My
friend and I both agreed it looked great.
I leaned back and he put the clamp on my nipple, which
hurt like a bitch!!! I never knew my nipples were
that sensitive. Then he put the needle through...OH
MY GOD!!! I have never in my life felt pain like that
before. It was like a huge burning, aching, throbbing
surge of pain rushed down my body. But the strange
thing was it only lasted a minute or two. I looked
down and saw that it was bleeding a bit (I was
surprised to learn that when nipples bleed, the blood
is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH darker than the blood from the
rest of your body). I started to stand up and I
immediately felt weak. It was like an extreme head
rush, and I started to feel like I was going to pass
out and puke at the same time. I sat back down for a
few minutes and I was fine.
I put my clothes back on and went out to the front of
the studio. The piercer gave me instructions for
cleaning it, and sent me on my way. As soon as my
friend and I got outside I got the most intense
rush!!! I think it was adrenaline. I felt energized,
dizzy, and light.
We went to CVS and bought anti-bacterial soap and
saline solution and sterile cleansing pads. That
night we went home and spent a half hour in my
bathroom soaking our newly pierced nipples, it must
have been quite a sight!!! ;)
It's still healing (it's almost done), and it takes a
lot of work. I clean it twice a day and I have never
had any problems. It gets sore occasionally, but that
lasts a day or two at most.
She got her other one (other nipple) done right before
the second semester. I still only have my one, and my
parents don't know (thank god).
I'm going to get my navel done in three days, and I
can't wait. I am 19 now and my parents know about the
navel plans :)
When people say that piercings are addictive, they're
right. After my navel, I have a tattoo design in the
works, and plans to get a horizontal barbell double
piercing in my ear by the end of the summer.
To all those (especially girls) who are considering
doing the nipple thing, make sure the place is clean,
sterile, and reputable. I'm not going to lie to you,
it hurts like hell for a minute or two, but it's worth
it in the end! Good luck! :)
