My name Rob, I am 19. Shortly after moving to Minnesota, from California, I found an interesting new activity, piercing. As I was in 8th grade I had gotten my ear pierced and for a while left it in, but after a while i took it out and forgot about it. After moving to Minnesota I had no one to influence what I did. I began to look into piercing and found it to be pretty neat. I wanted to get something that was cool and uncommon, so I went for septum, in my school of 3,000 plus students I was the only person with a septum ring. The night I decided I was going to go get it, was late December 99. After ski practice I made a little pit stop at the tattoo shop and told the guy there I wanted a septum ring. He took me back into the little room and had me sit up in the chair. He left for a while and then came back with new a package of needles and all that. Then he cleaned my septum and marked the spot where he would put it. He takes up the needle in one hand and a hollow tube in the other and counts to 2 and then at 3 says here it goes. I expected it to hurt quite a bit, but as I recall, it did not hurt too much, when I compare it, I would say it hurts a little more than getting the cartilage of your ear pierced. The worst part for me was dealing with parents and certainly not the piercing itself. To anyone who is thinking of this, I would recommend it, its one awesome looking piercing.
