Hey....
I would like to submit my own experience getting my tongue pierced.
Some 5 years back I was in the States, I am a Dane and living in Denmark
again. Here I got my navel pierced. It was a that time where it was
really rare seeing anybody with a naval piercing in Denmark. I liked
that. Standing out a bit, and I was not much for tattoos, since I would
be stucked with them forever, even if I got tired of them. A couple of
years went by, and soon every other girl had a naval piercing. I had to
come up with something new to stand out. The answer was a tongue
piercing. I thougt it was so "naughty". I went to the piercing place
accompanied with two of my friend. One of them would really like to go
in and see it getting done. So she followed me. Getting it done was not
all that bad. In fact, what hurt the most was the tweezer she held my
tongue with, and not the actually piercing. My friend, however, almost
fainted. She had to sit down a couple of minutes to get back on her
feet.
As said, the piercing was not bad. But I would lie, if I said that I
wasn´t in pain. The first week after the piercing it did hurt. Once the
tongue swoll, my tongue muscle got really sore. I had a hard time eating
the first week. But gradually it dissapeared. Now I have had it for a
year, and I still stand out. I guess Danish people are chicken. They
have not taken up the trend of tongue piercing as they did when navel
piercing came out. I recently were back in the States, and there one
does not stand out having a tongue piece. A lot of people have it over
there. Here you can talk about a trend. But I am still unique here in
Denmark, and I love the attention it gets me. Most people wrinkle their
noses when seeing it at first sight, but have to admit, that it is kind
of sexy afterall.
My tongue piercing have not caused me ANY problems what so ever. A lot
of people think it will get infected easily. But far from. They have to
think about that the sliva is steril, and clean the piercing all the
time. It has been the piercing I have had the least problems with, since
I have more than just my naval and tongue (those to know I choose). My
tongue has not been infected or sore (except the first week)at all. So I
would highly recommend it if you think about getting it done - as long
as you are not living in Denmark. I would like to remain unique!
