This is kind of long...
I wanted to get my tongue done for ages now, so I finally decided to do it. I ran it by my mother who said no, outright. Not to be deterred I set forth to educate her about it, and finally she said all right, but don't tell your father. As I was on the school debating team, I had to wait until after the finals, and then there were a few other things I had to do (conferences, driving test, etc.......) But, then we broke up from school for our easter break.
A friend of mine wanted her navel doing, so we agreed to go together. So, both of us decided on a day and off we went. We had tried to make an appointment, but we couldn't get hold of the place where we were going, so we just showed up.
She got her navel done straight away, but they said they couldn't do me until later that day (5pm) or the next day. So, I booked for the next day, and left, slightly disappointed (well, I was totally gutted actually). So, I decided that I would get it done that evening, and have my mum take me home, so I rebooked it and said goodbye to Selina (who had to work that afternoon) and set about finding something to do for hours before I got it done. I went to the library because I had some work to do, and I needed to take my mind off the fact that inn a few hours I was going to have a large needle stuck through my tongue. I must admit, the waiting was more painful than the actual pierce!
Anyway, 5pm arrived, and I went to the studio. There were a few people waiting to be pierced (most for navels), but I was the only one getting my tongue done. After I had signed all the appropriate stuff, I was beckoned into a tiny room with a couch and two large mirrors. I sat on the couch with my back to the wall and was asked to stick my tongue out. It seems I have a pretty small tongue, as she kept asking me to stick it out further. Then I was asked to rinse with listerine. That Hurt. My eyes started watering and I promptly dribbled everywhere. Somewhat embarrassing, but I was assured that everyone dribbles. Then my tongue was clamped. No going back.... I shut my eyes and felt alittle poke and she said 'that's the needle through' I opened my eyes and looked in themirror. It was the wierdest sight, sitting there with this big needle through my tongue. Then she put the barbell through and screwed on the balls. And that was it. She told me to go sit down for a few minutes before I left, and I wandered off with a huge wad of tissue. When I got into the waiting area, everyone was saying "oooh, did it hurt?" "Let me see" "Are you bleeding?", to which all I could reply was "mphhh mmmpppphhh mmpphh mph" and drool lots (bear in mind these were complete strangers I was drooling at"!) So, I sat and dribbled into the tissue I had been given, and then after about 5 minutes, left to go and meet my mother at her work. She refuses to look at it until I get the barbell changed for a shorter one, but hey. I took my first look at it in the car on the way home. It is so cool... I absolutely love it. That was yesterday, so now I'm just waiting for the swelling to go down a bit and for me to be able to talk and eat again. To anyone who is thinking about doing it: GO. Go now. Go forth and be pierced. It's absolutely great...Thanx for reading my tale...Helen
