well i realize there are twenty here already, but i figured i'd submit mine
too. when i was 13, my best friend got her tongue pierced, and ever since
then i had wanted one. i had asked my father and he said no, but when i went
cross country to visit my mother, she had agreed. i was sixteen by barely
two weeks at that point, so she had to take me, as well as sign forms. i
went to a place in san jose, ca., a gothic place, with gargoyles as
decorations. i was a bit nervous, as anyone would be, but there was no way i
was going to back down. the piercer had me pick out the barbell i wanted,
but foolish me did not think to look at gauge size, so instead, i picked out
a blue barbell, not realizing i was asking him to pierce me with a 10g. i
have a short tongue so i had to have it done farther up then most do, and all
i really remember was my tongue being held out, and a sudden pinch and that
was it. they asked me to rinse my mouth and i was surprised to find that it
bled, my friend had never mentioned that. but i had absolutely no
complications at all. i was able to talk within an hour, and i was eating
solid food (i.e. cookies) by the end of the day. my one suggestion would be
to clean it religiously, and to use ice for the first two days, that'll keep
the swelling down. but i love it, and am always playing with it, and yes,
the boyfriend who was with me both before and after i got pierced likes it
too =). this summer i'm getting my lip pierced, so i'll write again soon for
that i hope. thanks for listening.
