Alright so heres the deal. It is Novemeber 11, the day before my 35th birthday and Im at work looking in this hand held mirror and realizing the wrinkles I have and thinking about how old I feel. I had been thinking about getting my tongue peirced and decided that would be my birthday present for myself (and to be honest my boyfriend at the time). I was very very very nervous about getting it done but decided if i didnt like it I could always take it out.
The next day (Happy Birthday to Me) I grab a friend and tell her what im going to do which completely grosses her out but agrees to go along for moral support. We go to Kentucky Fried Chicken and I pig out on the buffet since I dont expect to be eating for a few days. We pull up at Maine Tattoo and Im so nervous Im shaking and cant hop up onto the table (Im also short so that may have something to do w.it) the guy gives me this long lecture about do's and donts which include no smoking and gargling ALOT. Next thing I know he says youre going to feel a pinch and I have this wonderful bar in mouth.
After hearing horror stories about infection and such I went out and bought a huge bottle of Listerine and Slush Puppies and my friend who was so grossed out about the tongue piercing? well she went and got it done not 10mins later.
It is now June and everyone asks me if it hurt getting it done. No it doesnt hurt getting it done but it hurts afterwards, listen to what your piercer says, get midol (so the swelling doesnt get too bad) and a medium sized bottle of Listerine will do and dont expect to eat. It took me until day two where i could eat cup of noodles but only if i cut up the noodles very fine and just swallowed it. Oh and unless you want to make sure you gargle w.the listerine after every ciggerette...dont smoke..I did but I did use listerine every time after i smoked...no my tongue never got infected but that doesnt mean yours wont.
So do i like my piercing? Hell no I love it! Although it didnt make me feel younger it is something that is just mine.
