About three weeks ago I finally convinced a friend of mine to drag me into Philadelphia so I could get my tongue pierced. I'm 17, which meant that I had to do a bit of shopping around before I found a place that would pierce me, but the one I picked was incredible. I have six earrings in each ear, but no tattoos or body piercings, do I didn't really know what to expect. After the paperwork, I was taken into a smaller room in the back, and was laid down on a chair that was almost identical to one in a doctor's office. The man who pierced me really knew what he was doing, he gave me the play-by-play throughout the piercing. After rinsing initially with listerine, he drew a dot where the piercing would go, and let me see it. After drying the tongue off with gauze, he told me to relax (he asked constantly if i was feeling alright, since he'd been through a lot of cases where the people passed out during the process). I closed my eyes, felt a little pinch on my tongue, and looked up to see what it looked like in the mirror. I was so amazed at how painless it was, since I had heard the tongue was the most painful place to get it done in. There was a little bleeding after it was done, and a little the first two mornings, but nothing else. Ice was a necessity the first week, and I lived off of ice cream and slurpees for awhile. Talking was a different story, though it was even fun trying to learn how to talk with it again. I'm going in tomorrow to get a smaller bar, the whole rush of getting it done was really great, and I have no regrets at all about getting it, I love the thing :).
