Well, I've had my tragus pierced for about a year or so now, but it was INSANE getting it done. I've got my nape, nose and 0gage plugs too, but my vertical tragus totally hurt the most.
My parents are really anti-tatoo and piercing and told me after I had pierced my nose, that I ought not put any more holes in my face. Thus, I was forced to skip the lip ring and try and find something not on my face to stick holes through.
After looking at the bme site and a couple of others, I was totally taken with the idea of a vertical tragus.
So, on a VERY cold evening, I drove 45mins to Zaps (the nearest parlour) with two of my best friends to get it done. I really don't get nervous with piercing anymore, and actually enjoy the whole thing quite a lot, so by the time she (Rebecca) prepared all of her stuff and I was in the chair, I was really stoked.
After getting a couple of nice marker dots on my ear, the needle starts to dug through nicely. Complete with lots of crunchy popping ear cartilage sounds. Haha. Apparently I have a really "tough tragus" cause it took ample amounts of ramming to get the needle to the receiving bar! Ouch.
So, now things start to get interesting, as Rebecca attempts to get my jewellery in.
It honestly was NOT going through. SO after over 30mins of ramming and digging with the bar, and Rebecca nearly on top of me (and SUPER frustrated), my ear was VERY VERY VERY bloody and VERY VERY VERY much swollen. The whole task is suppose to take 5mins. I have now been in the chair for 45 minutes. INSANE.
Eventually, after a break, and a glass of water, the decision is made to re-pierce the hole from the bottom up. Now, the initial piercing was painful enough, but having a needle dug through my extremely swollen and angry tragus is the most painful thing I've EVER experienced. This caused jolts of pain through my entire body. oh the horror. Haha.
Finally, the jewellery came through!! She screwed the ball on, and washed me up. There was an abnormal and scary amount of blood for an ear piercing. yikes..
The piercing itself looks really really killer. Because of the funny angle, you can only see the ball on the top of my tragus, and the other one is just on the inside of my ear, so it sort of looks like I just have piercing on the side of my head! I get comments about it all the time. Totally worth the time and pain!!
